In Escaia we want to provide the conditions for an authentic meeting between our guests and the dreamy landscape. Escaia is 130 hectares of rural charm in the heart of Tuscany. Nestled in the gently rolling hills between Volterra and San Gimignano you'll find the traditional stone houses with original parts from the year 1050. These buildings have been carefully restored to create five comfortable holiday apartments for two, four and up to five people, all equipped with kitchen, bathroom and heating system. The exclusive hand-made alabaster lamps in natural stone from the family's own quarry provide an unique feel with its soft glow. The cozy lighting and antique country style furniture ensure a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. Escaia offers many opportunities for art lovers longing to see Tuscany's treasures. Florence and Pisa with its museums and its amazing architecture can be reached by car in an hour. Even closer, 15 km away you will find picturesque San Gimignano, and not far off Siena, a gem in rosy hues. Volterra is of course the city that lies closest to our hearts. On its hilltop this magnificent Etruscan city awaits you, cherishing its 3000 years of history and the tradition of alabaster carving. At Strada Statale 68 you can visit the family alabaster laboratory Romano Bianchi. If you feel inspiration flow, we can arrange workshops in alabaster carving, intarsia and painting. At the top-floor of the main house you find our family room with fireplace, table-tennis, soccer game, TV, board games and toys. The room is always open to our guests. It has become a nice tradition to once a week offer our guests a dinner with typical flavors of Tuscany, cooked in a wood oven with our own olive oil. These evenings are usually very enjoyable! Guests are welcome to borrow the wood oven and a barbecue grill for their own culinary experiments. The authentic and intimate atmosphere in Escaia is perfect for important occasions such as weddings, birthdays and baptisms. We are open all year round, including Christmas and Easter. Our “agriturismo” is ideally situated for a holiday steeped in undisturbed nature, fascinating history and breathtaking art. Come and experience the wild beauty of Escaia!
